fall together, mashed moments of frenzy and panic, just wanting to crush the orbitals between us. But when reality pulls me from under the water, lets me blink out the sunshine-too-bright, I realize that I feel better, that these instants are my armor against harsh concrete and busy skyscrapers. I could slip back in, swim in those sheets for a few minutes more, but it’s okay, life needs attention, too. Distance is nothing, presence is everything, and it takes a forever to recognize they’re not necessarily related; why, there are times their fingertips don’t even graze each other.
